SO! Volunteer Philosophy
Seniors Outdoors! is an all-volunteer managed and supported
organization. Members enjoy the terrific variety of activities that the club
offers, so, in turn, everyone is asked to help with at least one or two
volunteer activities each calendar year. The larger and stronger the pool of
volunteers… the more fun, interesting, and sustainable are club activities!
The Club recognizes that its members lead full
and active lives and have diverse backgrounds in terms of skills and
experiences. Whether members live in Durango year round or part-time;
participate in outings or only in social activities; are single or a couple;
a leader or “do’er,” there are ample volunteer opportunities within the club
to meet a variety of member needs.
Many of the volunteer opportunities are organized into teams, so
that members not only share the load, but also have an additional opportunity
to meet and get to know more of the club’s members than they might
otherwise. If you’d like to learn more
about the many volunteer opportunities, please visit the Web page: Description of Volunteer Positions.
How to Volunteer
Joining or Renewing
The membership
application form has a volunteer section for you to complete. Please
review the opportunities and select several that are of interest to you,
see Description of Volunteer Positions. You
will then be contacted by a club representative and scheduled for those that
will work for your schedule and talents, as well as filling a need for the
club.
There is always a need for additional volunteers
to supplement the teams that organize outings & socials for the
club. You will hear and read about these needs throughout the year
during monthly club meetings and via e-mail announcements.
