Seniors Outdoors! Downhill Skiers Program Information We are hoping for some exciting skiing at Durango Mountain
Resort/Purgatory in 2011. Find out below how to sign up for future SO! downhill
skier announcements. What is Continuing in 2011? John
Montle will still be the group leader for those who would like to join a
group of intermediate skiers interested primarily in groomed slopes. They
will meet a little before 9:00 and/or 9:30 A.M. on Monday, Wednesday and
Friday, just outside the lift line ropes at the base of Lift 1 (the six pack
lift.) Messages will be sent out only when a leader will not be present as
expected. First timers should contact John Montle at 769-6108 or mntnlvr@frontier.net. Back up
contact is Betsy Petersen at 259-5417 or betsyp@bresnan.net. What is New? Plenty is new in 2011. First, we have new volunteers to be group leaders for
different ski abilities. Click
here to see list of group leaders. Group leaders will email you to: Announce day and time for
meeting the group Suggest skier abilities for the
group Request those who join to RSVP Group leaders with cell phones will provide their cell
number for connecting on the mountain should you miss the group at the base. Days and meeting times will vary at the discretion of the group
leader and may include weekdays and weekends. Should the group leader decide
to cancel a gathering, the leader will email those who indicated they would
come. Skiers are welcome to join any group they are interested in skiing
with. They are not restricted to a single group. Meeting Location? On the uphill side of the
electronic trail sign outside of Purgy’s. How to Recognize SO! Skiers on the Mountain? We ask
all SO! skiers to identify themselves through marking a ski pole with a
spiral of colorful tape. Each group leader will carry a roll of tape. With
this marking, over time it will become easier to find other SO! skiers at the
base and on the mountain. Lunch? If you miss the group, look for other SO! skiers
at lunch, usually at noon on the second floor (bar level) at Dante’s when it

maintain a SO! Downhill Skier email list. To be on it and receive group
leader announcements, you must request this by emailing SO! ski group co-coordinator
